Marko López de Vicuña, a virtuoso cellist, has built a career distinguished by excellence and dedication. In 2005, he earned the prestigious Performer Diploma from Indiana University, Bloomington (USA), where he had the honour of studying under the legendary Janos Starker. Prior to that, he obtained a Master’s degree from the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg (Germany), refining his craft under the guidance of Professor Adriana Contino, herself a student of Starker. He also holds the title of “Staatlich Geprüfter Musiklehrer” (State-Certified Music Teacher), awarded by the esteemed Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt (Germany). His training was further enriched through masterclasses with iconic figures such as Steven Isserlis, Peter Wispelwey, Michael Strauss, Michael Sanderling, and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi.

His orchestral career has been equally remarkable. From 2015 to 2023, he was a member of the Macao Orchestra, having previously held positions with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra (USA), the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Granada City Orchestra (Spain). He has also been invited to collaborate with prestigious ensembles such as the Filarmonica della Scala in Milan (Italy), the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra (USA), the Freiburg Theater Orchestra (Germany), and the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra (RTVE) in Madrid. He has worked under the baton of renowned conductors like Mstislav Rostropovich, Daniele Gatti, Juanjo Mena, Pablo Heras-Casado, Manfred Honeck, and Hans Graf. Additionally, he has shared the stage with legendary musicians including Plácido Domingo, Steven Isserlis, Maria Kliegel, Sarah Chang, Kyoko Takezawa, and Boris Pergamenschikow. His versatility has also led him to perform with artists from other genres, such as Josh Groban, The Scorpions, and Sting.
