Double bass, Trumpet
Francisco Escobar, born in Córdoba in 1982, began his musical studies at the age of 8 in his hometown, focusing on piano and solfège. At 11, after moving to Huelva, he received his first trumpet lessons from his father, Francisco Escobar. At 16, his passion for music led him to study the double bass in the Manuel de Falla String Orchestra in Bollullos, under the guidance of Jesús Espinosa, a member of the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra (ROSS).
In 2005, he obtained the Higher Professor of Trumpet qualification, and in 2007, the Higher Professor of Double Bass, continuing his training with Lucian Ciorata, soloist of the ROSS. Throughout his career, he has refined his technique with distinguished masters such as Benjamín Moreno, Denis Konir, Frano Kakarigi, Thomas Martin, and Duncan McTier, among others.
His career has led him to collaborate with numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles, including Sección Aurea, OJA, JONDE, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, the OCG, the Córdoba Orchestra, and the ROSS. He has worked under the baton of renowned conductors such as Michael Thomas, Josep Pons, Arturo Tamayo, Antoni Ros Marbá, Lutz Köhler, and Daniel Barenboim.
As a soloist, he has performed concerts with the OSCO on a tour of France, with the St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra, and with the "1st of October" Symphony Orchestra in Beijing, China. Additionally, he has enriched his training with orchestral conducting courses taught by Michael Thomas, Arturo Tamayo, Amy Knopps, J. Miguel Rodilla, Juan José Navarro, and Octav Calleya, among others.
His experience as a conductor includes orchestral readings with JONDE and OJA, where he tackled works by Beethoven, Dvořák, Elgar, Tchaikovsky, and Max Bruch. In April 2009, he conducted the ballet "La Création du Monde" by Milhaud with the Orquesta Joven de Andalucía. In February 2020, he stood out by conducting the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra in the show "A Night of Desperate Rock", before an audience of over 6,000 people, achieving resounding success.
According to José Miguel Carrasco in the Diario de Sevilla (28 February 2020): "Brilliant overture, by the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra conducted by Francisco Escobar." Manuel Corrales Scota also praised his performance in the blog "Entre el Sevilla y el Rock Andaluz" (1 March 2020), describing it as "spectacular" and "majestic."
Additionally, he has conducted the Municipal Band of Huelva and the Municipal Band of Almería on several occasions. Between 2011 and 2016, he was the director of the University Orchestra of Huelva, a project he founded, bringing together professional musicians and high-level students from the provinces of Huelva and Seville.
Currently, Francisco Escobar serves as a tenured professor of Artistic Education at the Royal Professional Conservatoire of Music of Almería, and holds the position of principal double bass in the Orquesta Ciudad de Almería.
