Born in Almería, she began her musical training at the Royal Professional Conservatory of Music of Almería with Rafael Piquera Yago. Subsequently, she completed a Pre-College degree at the Colburn Academy in Los Angeles (USA), where she also earned her Bachelor's degree under the tutelage of Professor Richard Beene at The Colburn Conservatory of Music.
She completed her Postgraduate Master's Degree in Performance at the Zurich University of the Arts, guided by professors Matthias Rácz and Hans Agreda. During her Master's studies, she secured an academy contract with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, where she had the opportunity to work alongside Principal Bassoonist Fredrick Ekdahl, while simultaneously completing a trial contract with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in England. She also pursued a Master's in Performance with a Soloist specialization at the Zurich University of the Arts, rounding out her artistic career as both an orchestral musician and a soloist.
Throughout her career, Elena has collaborated with various symphonic ensembles, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic (USA), the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (England), the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra (Sweden), the Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid, the Mainly Mozart Symphony Orchestra (USA), the Royal Northern Sinfonia (England), the Swiss Chamber Orchestra, and the Winterthur Symphony Orchestra (Switzerland), among others.
As a soloist, Elena has been recognized in numerous competitions. Her accolades include the Fernand Gillet-Hugo Fox International Competition, the Muri International Bassoon Competition (Switzerland), the National Orchestral Excerpts Competition for Bassoon (USA), the ADCS National Bassoon Competition (Spain), and the Pasadena Showcase House Instrumental Competition, where she won the Grand Prize (USA). A passionate performer, she has appeared as a concert soloist with the Colburn Orchestra under the baton of Simone Menezes, the Almería Symphony Orchestra, the RCPMA Symphony Orchestra, and the Colburn Orchestra conducted by Maxim Eshkenazy at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Her tours have allowed her to collaborate with acclaimed artists such as Noah Bendix-Balgley (performing Schubert's Octet in F major), Janine Jansen, Hilary Hahn, and Andrew Bain. Furthermore, she has played under the batons of legendary conductors and composers, including Esa-Pekka Salonen, Gustavo Dudamel, John Williams, and Michael Tilson Thomas.
Currently, Elena is the principal bassoonist of the Musikkollegium Winterthur (Winterthur Symphony Orchestra) in Switzerland.
